There’s so much pressure during the holidays to spend a ton of money to make your loved ones “happy”. The truth is you don’t have to spend a lot of money for people to know you love them.
Here are three tips from your money coach to help you navigate this 2020 holiday season:
- Now more than ever, save on travel. If you don’t have to travel, DON’T. You’ll save valuable time and money this season. Use technology to stay connected. Find fun apps like Marco Polo, Houseparty, and Squad to stay connected.
- Be creative with gifts! Make it meaningful! I’ve got a friend who writes custom poems and they’re amazing! Find ways to tell people you love them without feeling like you have to break the bank this holiday. Today MORE THAN EVER that’s going to make a difference for people to hear and see that they matter and that they’re loved.
- It’s not about the stuff! Quality of experiences rates higher in spending surveys. People who spend money on experiences over things rate higher on the happiness scale.
- Focus on making memories. My favorite holiday memories are playing basketball with my family from out of town. That doesn’t have to cost a penny.
